How to Make Quick and Delicious Italian Focaccia Pizza at Home

During a memorable trip to Italy, specifically Rome, I had the pleasure of tasting an incredible focaccia pizza. This delicious Italian bread was topped with olives, sauce, and a blend of spices. It struck the perfect balance—not too oily, not too dry. The bread itself was wonderfully soft. As someone who often seeks quick recipes due to my busy work schedule, I decided to recreate this amazing focaccia pizza at home.

Ingredients

  • Pizza Dough: I used a pre-made pizza dough from the market. If you don't have this, you can easily make the dough at home (recipe included below).
  • Tomato Sauce: I used 90% of the tomato sauce that came with the pre-made dough package.
  • Cheeses: A small amount of mozzarella cheese and some white cheese.
  • Olives: 5 olives.
  • Spiced Olive Oil Sauce: A mix of olive oil, black pepper, and chili flakes. Feel free to add any other spices you like.
  • Tuna: Canned tuna, but I didn't use the entire can.
  • Cherry Tomatoes: Fresh cherry tomatoes.

Preparing the Pizza Dough

I used pre-made pizza dough, but here's a simple recipe if you want to make it at home:

  1. 2 cups of flour
  2. 1 cup of water
  3. 1 teaspoon of salt
  4. 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl to form a soft dough. Cook the dough in a pan for 5-10 minutes.

Spread the tomato sauce over the dough. If you are using the ready-made sauce from the package, it will save you a lot of time.

Place slices of mozzarella cheese and pieces of white cheese evenly over the sauce.

Adding the Ingredients

Scatter the cherry tomatoes, tuna, and olives over the cheese. Make sure they are evenly distributed. The fresh cherry tomatoes add a sweet and tangy flavor that complements the richness of the cheese and the savory taste of the tuna.

In a bowl, mix olive oil with black pepper and chili flakes. Drizzle this mixture over the pizza. You can add more spices according to your taste. This sauce enhances the overall flavor profile, giving the focaccia a delightful kick.

Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F). Bake the pizza for about 15-20 minutes, or until the top is nicely browned and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
