From Unemployment to Full-Time Blogger Part 1

From Unemployment to Full-Time Blogger Part 1

Hello, aspiring bloggers, digital nomads, and creative minds! Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life, and I am excited to share it with you. On June 20, 2024, I embarked on this blogging journey, driven by a mix of desperation, hope, and a spark of creativity.

Why I Decided to Start Blogging Today

The decision to start blogging came after a period of struggle and discontent. Unemployment had taken a toll on me, and I was searching for a way to channel my creativity and find a new purpose. Social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok had not brought the success I hoped for. Medium, too, was frustrating due to its restrictions and lack of profitability, especially with its rules against AI usage. Creating my own website seemed like a daunting task, but something inside me clicked on that fateful night.

I started building my blog website at 7 PM and worked tirelessly until the early hours of the morning, around 2-3 AM. Despite my exhaustion, I felt a sense of excitement and purpose. Using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, I created separate index.html pages for my blog posts. This method isn’t sustainable for the long term, but it was a crucial first step.

On the first day, after only 3-4 hours of sleep, I found myself working tirelessly for another 10 hours. I decided not to share my website with anyone until I got a really good income from it. I shared it on Reddit and received supportive comments, which motivated me further.

In the morning, I saw more comments asking me how I did the illustrations. I used AI-based tools for the illustrations, aiming to create something unique and build a brand with a distinct profile.

The Investment

To kick-start this project, I made several investments:

  • Domain: €2.5 per month, totaling €42 for the year.
  • MidJourney Subscription: €11.
  • Development Tools: Copilot for freelancing and ChatGPT for content creation.
  • I used a Bootstrap template and wrote two initial blog posts, creating individual HTML pages for each. Although not sustainable, this setup allowed me to get started quickly.

The Challenges

I set up Google Analytics and applied for Google AdSense, but my application was not accepted. I need to add things like a privacy policy for Google AdSense. My next steps involve improving the site’s structure, adding styles, and ensuring it is sustainable for the long term.

The Vision

I aim to write blog posts consistently for the next 90 days. If successful, this blog could become my full-time job. For now, I’ll focus on laying a solid foundation to build upon, even if future employment requires full-time commitment. My eyes are very red and sore, but this seems to be my only way out.

Building a Sustainable Blog Structure

Creating a sustainable blog structure is essential for long-term success. Here’s how I plan to do it:

  • Implementing a content management system (CMS): This will make it easier to manage and update my blog posts.
  • Improving site navigation and user experience: Ensuring that visitors can easily find the information they’re looking for.
  • Adding essential pages like privacy policy and terms of service to comply with Google AdSense requirements.

Consistency is Key

Consistency is crucial for building a successful blog. My goal is to write and publish new blog posts regularly, providing valuable content to my readers. This will help attract and retain an audience, ultimately leading to potential monetization opportunities.

Once my blog gains traction, I plan to explore various monetization strategies, including:

  • Affiliate marketing
  • Sponsored posts
  • Selling digital products

By diversifying my income streams, I can create a more stable and profitable blog.

Promoting my blog on social media platforms will help drive traffic and increase visibility. I plan to:

  • Share blog updates on platforms like Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Engage with my audience by responding to comments and messages.
  • Collaborate with other bloggers and influencers to expand my reach.

Building connections with other bloggers and influencers can open up new opportunities for growth. I will:

  • Join online communities and forums related to blogging and digital marketing.
  • Reach out to fellow bloggers for guest posting and collaboration opportunities.
  • Studying the strategies and experiences of successful full-time bloggers can provide valuable insights.

Staying Motivated and Overcoming Obstacles

Blogging is not always easy, and there will be challenges along the way. To stay motivated, I will:

  • Set realistic goals and track my progress.
  • Celebrate small achievements and milestones.
  • Seek support from friends, family, and the blogging community.

The world of blogging and digital marketing is constantly evolving. To stay ahead, I will:

  • Keep up with industry trends and updates.
  • Invest in courses and resources to improve my skills.
  • Experiment with new tools and strategies to optimize my blog.

Conclusion

This is just the beginning of my blogging adventure. While the road ahead may be challenging, I am determined to persevere. If you are an aspiring blogger, digital nomad, or creative mind, remember that every great journey starts with a single step. Join me on this path, and let’s create something amazing together.
